Fennel is a natural coolant and a digestive aid, especially in summer when we struggle to keep of body cool and our stomach healthy.
This lemonade is a refreshing and aromatic made with the combination of fennel seeds, mint and freshly squeezed lemon juice. It offers a unique twist to the traditional lemonade by incorporating the distinct flavors of fennel. The mix can be made and stored in fridge for a month.
To make this lemonade mix the pre mix with lemon juice, adjust salt and sugar, drop in few ice cubes and you have a glass of revitalizing drink.

Fennel (Saunf) Lemonade
A refreshing summer cooler with fennel, lemon and mint.
Ingredients
Lemonade mix
- 1/4 c fennel seeds
- 2 cardamom pods
- 4 whole black pepper
- 1/2 tsp white poppy seeds
- 1 c sugar
- 1 tsp dried mint leaves
- 1/2 tsp black salt
2 glasses of lemonade
- 4 tbsp lemonade powder
- 2 c water
- 1 lemon
- salt & sugar as per taste
Instructions
- In a small pan roast the fennel seeds until aromatic, around 5 minutes. You don't want to get them brown, just dark green.
- Turn off the heat, add cardamom pods, black pepper and poppy seeds and let it roast in the hot pan for another 5 minutes.
- Once everything is cooled down, grind it to fine powder.
- For two glasses of the lemonade, mix 4 tbsp of lemonade powder, juice of one lemon, 2 cups of water and adjust salt and sugar.
- Serve with cubes of ice.
